ORIGINAL SCORE ALBUM

notes on the score

(Rel. August 14, 2026)
With such a disparate array of “documentary filmmaker” responsibilities (interviewer / writer / producer / director / editor / composer / music editor / legal / etc.), I’m amazed/honored I also got to “squeeze out” the score for GUITARVIOL: The Film Composer’s Secret Weapon! (The film’s original score is something like 40 minutes; this here is 33 mins.)

Needless to say, EVERY CUE uses GUITARVIOL 🎻 Well, except for one… which is in the film as an “inside joke” (it’s NOT on the original score album). Would be hilarious if someone got the “joke,” once they see the film! (There are actually several “musical” jokes in the score, fwiw–beyond the titles themselves.) Basically, with the exception of occasional drums/percussion 🥁, bass, whistling(!), and electric guitars 🎸, this is a 100% GUITARVIOL-ONLY smorgasbord–and was a TOTAL blast to brew!

PLEASE NOTE! Though this is the film’s “ORIGINAL SCORE ALBUM,” I had to refer to it as “ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK”–the only way to get it cataloged in “film music” categories (Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, YouTube, Pandora, etc.). I’m mentioning this because, in addition to the DEVASTATING LIVE PLAYING the composers (see IMDB) present throughout this documentary, there are seven INCREDIBLE pieces (from Loga Ramin Torkian, Jonathan Wilson, and Andreas Moisa & Philipp Kümpel) that highlight this film’s soundtrack! (Those are licensed for the film, but not for standalone “album” release.) Direct, official links to those pieces (and albums they’re from) are below–PLEASE SOAK UP THEIR GREATNESS!!! Thank you! And in GuitarViols We Trust!
